Iridology: exploring the Eyes as windows to Health...

Iridology, often dubbed as the study of the iris, is a holistic practice that suggests the iris reflects the state of one's health.

Advocates of Iridology believe that specific patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris can indicate various aspects of a person's physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The concept behind Iridology dates back centuries, with historical roots in ancient China, Egypt, and Greece. However, it wasn't until the 19th century that it gained recognition as a distinct practice, thanks to the work of Hungarian physician Ignaz von Peczely.

According to Iridology principles, the iris is divided into zones that correspond to specific organs and systems in the body. By closely examining the iris, practitioners claim to identify signs of potential health issues or imbalances. These signs may include discolorations, markings, or variations in iris texture.

Critics of Iridology argue that there is insufficient scientific evidence to support its efficacy, they assert that any correlations between iris characteristics and health conditions are purely coincidental or anecdotal.

Despite skepticism from the scientific community, Iridology continues to have a following among alternative medicine practitioners and individuals seeking holistic approaches to health. Some proponents suggest that Iridology can complement conventional medical diagnosis and treatment, providing additional insights into a person's overall health. However, it's essential to approach it with caution and skepticism, particularly when relying solely on iris analysis for diagnosis or treatment: while the eyes may offer valuable insights into health, any assessment should be part of a comprehensive evaluation conducted by qualified healthcare professionals.

In conclusion, Iridology remains a fascinating subject that sparks debate within the realm of alternative medicine. While some believe in its potential to uncover hidden health issues, others view it with skepticism due to the lack of scientific evidence. As with any alternative practice, individuals should exercise critical thinking and consult with medical professionals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Although Iridology is not the focus of CoachingShapes' Training interests, because it has been misused over the last decade in Europe, which has certainly not improved a widespread feeling of general scepticism, we nevertheless present it in our Training Programs with an exclusive novelty: the perfect synergy between the high competence of the Iridologist and the new "AI-P1" software produced by CoachingShapes.

Iridology has often been used to make real diagnoses in every medical field and not as a mere exploratory but non-diagnostic tool. Moreover, it has suffered a veritable onslaught from incompetents who have claimed to extend the field of application of this 'science of observation' beyond reasonably acceptable limits and without possessing the sufficient technical basis to understand the limits of their initiative.

Iridology has thus become little more than a parlour game through which improbable clinical assessments are hypothesised and unreliable and laughable 'signals from the future' are detected...

An increasingly diversified offer has, however, given rise to the influx of new categories of Clients and Students. Many Associations and Organisations, in order not to lose Members and new enrolments, have adapted to these demands by presenting an educational offer often more suited to low-grade esotericism than to a discipline more akin to medicine.

Our impression is that more of an attempt has been made to complicate than to simplify a "discipline of observation".

It is true that when you complicate something, at first you get the attention of many groups of users who seek the impossible in the possible... But at a later stage, curiosity wanes and customers turn to the countless other alternative proposals that emerge more strongly and steadily from the commercial chaos.

Iridology has no scientific recognition but is empirical research that very often ends up in bad hands.

However, it must be said that some researchers in the field of Iridology, from the 20th century onwards and in all parts of the world, have indeed contributed to giving dignity and basic meaning to this practice. Particularly in Italy, Father Emilio Ratti, a Franciscan biologist and physician, was able to give classical Iridology a solid and intelligent foundation, without creating useless illusions and avoiding mockery from the medical profession. On the contrary, thanks to his contribution in this field, many physicians began to take an interest in Iridology, acquiring it as a pre-diagnostic tool and using it correctly and competently.

Our Iridology experience, which began in the mid-1980s, has continued not so much in an attempt to find the impossible in the possible, but by constantly improving our training, acquiring a substantial and documented case history, and carefully analysing the results obtained during many years of practice. Above all, we have focused our attention not so much on the human body, nor on the brain, but on the Mind, attempting to identify common 'signs' that highlight certain character inclinations, wrong decision-making loops or bad emotional predispositions.

The iridological work carried out over more than 20 years, has allowed us to develop the  complex Iridology Software "AI-P1" that allows an ideal comparative analysis carried out in real time on more than 6000 samples. During the iridological examination, the software detects particular 'known signs' and identifies their relevance in the context of a psychological assessment of the subject under examination.

The experience gained during the use of this methodology, which combines artificial intelligence with the careful and profound sensitivity of the Iridologist, has enabled accurate and reliable character analyses to be carried out. Psychological aspects have emerged on which it has been possible to have immediate confirmation and starting points from which to proceed in order to resolve particular inner conflicts, fears, phobias or frailties.

We think it is useful, though not indispensable, to carry out a computerised iridological analysis before starting a path of personal evolution, of whatever kind.

This methodology could provide very useful basic indications for designing an evolutionary path that takes into account both solved and unresolved problems, improving the effectiveness of the strategies used. Moreover, it is a meaningful test to verify the actual degree of self-knowledge of a Student or Client. In fact, only from an in-depth self-knowledge pathway, free from fears and rigidity, can a concrete, strong and positive evolution originate, capable of accessing unconscious resources and releasing important potential for oneself and others.
